Search Engine Optimisation

Having a fabulous web site is not going to help your business unless you make sure that people see it, and getting visitors to your site is key to its success.

Ask yourself what you would do if you were looking for information/products on the internet

The odds are that you would head for your favourite search engine, perhaps Google or Yahoo and type in some relevant words. You might then get hundreds of pages of results. How many of those pages will you look at? The first one or two? Up to ten? Probably no more, and yet there may be just what you are looking for on the 92nd page – but you’re unlikely to find it, and that site owner is unlikely to benefit from your business.

For this reason search engine optimisation services are integral to any effective Internet marketing strategy.

If you already have a web site we can offer the following service for small businesses:

  1. Review your site for any problems, including:

    - Checking the 'hidden' tags within the site.
    - Checking copy on pages, in the title and headers.
    - Looking at the background code and how the page is presented.
    - Running tests using special software to give you more site information.

  2. Prepare a report on the best way to optimise your site.

  3. Complete the work on your site to optimise the pages for search engines.

  4. Offer a full Internet Marketing Strategy for your company – optimising your site for the search engines is not the only way to increase the profitability of your site.

You can choose the level of service you require, there will be no pressure from us on you to buy any of our packages. We will be happy to advise your designer on the best methods of integrating search engine requirements into the site, or do the work ourselves, whichever you prefer.

As each site is different we work closely with designers and clients to ensure that we give the maximum level of exposure to the site.

Some things we won't do

Unlike some search engine services we do not guarantee a ‘top ten listing’. There are a number of reasons for this:

  1. Search engines constantly change their search algorithms with a view to getting different top search results, so even if we could guarantee a top ten this month there is no way of ensuring that the same will be true in 3 months time.

  2. Search engines such as Google look at a number of factors, such as the number of links from other sites, and the ranking of those sites. Google themselves will tell you that a particular placing cannot be guaranteed.

  3. The usual way of providing these ‘guaranteed’ listings is to give the client an obscure search phrase which, when entered, will see their site at the top of the listings. For example, if you are a garden designer it will be difficult to ensure top search engine results when a visitor types in ‘garden designer’, as there are many sites to choose from, but it would be less difficult to come top of a search for the phrase ‘fluffy bunny gardens uk’ if your site had been optimised for that full specific phrase. The question you need to ask yourself is whether your target visitors are likely to use such search terms!

What we do is to make your site work by making the spiders ‘view’ as much as we can about your business. How you link, what you link to and what you say about your business are the most important ingredients and these must all relate to each other. We will also manually submit your site on a regular basis to the search engines to help the spiders find your site, and look for directory listings that will deliver quality inbound links.

We do not do automated submissions, page cloaking, page redirects, hidden text or any other practice that could get your site banned from search engines. We understand that once your site is banned it is easier to get a new domain name than recover your old site!
